If you are looking for a unique way to see the Boschendal Estate and the Banhoek Conservancy, or if you are keen to cycle the backroads to Paarl, or over the Franschhoek Pass around Theewaterskloof Dam (or the remainder thereof), Boschendal have recently launched the Boschendal Trail Centre and Bike Hire for those visitors looking for some extra activity.
Experience the beautiful Boschendal trails or surrounding roads with your own steed or rent a bike built to fit the bill. The Trek 29er Hardtail is our all-round weapon but if you consider yourself a connoisseur then why not take your pick from our Trek 29er full suspension range or Santa Cruz Demo Bikes! We also have a range of kiddie’s bikes on offer so you can have a fun family day out on the trails.
Boschendal proudly hosted the Cape Epic 2016 for 2 days and we have recently opened the new Boschendal MTB Trails to the riding public. With single track by Bennett Nel, Pieter van Wyk and Shaun Havenga expect some sweet riding. The world class black route is proving to be a hit with intermediate to advanced riders, but we do have routes to suit casual, intermediate and advanced riders. There are 5 marked trail circuits from 4km to 33km starting just inside the Rhodes Avenue security gate. Downhill single trails include the advanced Inferno (3.7km), intermediate to advanced Sugar Bowl (2.3km) and intermediate Porcupine (1.3km). The Orchards beginner to advanced skills track (1km) with its sweeping berms, camel backs, table tops and gap jumps will round off your ride leaving you with a smile on your face!
There is also a 5km or 10km trail run loop leaving from the Werf Parking lot. Through the vegetable garden to the tallest tree of South Africa and through the orchards back to the Trailcentre, you can decide to extend to the 10km by crossing the Banhoek River and running to the dams in the Banhoek Conservancy part of Boschendal. Stunning views and fynbos awaits you there!
Elrico also has the support of Sandile Xetu, a member of the BMC cycling team and a recent finisher of the Cape Epic. His experience, and bike mechanic skills, ensure that the team are set to maintain their service, provide experience over the long-distance rides and safety on the trails. All road cycling is accompanied by a support vehicle for tired cyclists and safety precautions
